Decorating with a touch of Red

You all know that I am a fan of color. There really isn't a color that I don't like. Red use to be my favorite color. In our first home I even painted our master bathroom red. Like...red red. It took about four coats of paint and four people painting around doors, windows, tubs, etc.! I have learned over the years that in order to really enjoy color you have to interject it into your home little by little. Painting four walls red is quite a commitment and one I wasn't too pleased with after two years.

I truly feel that you get more of an impact when most of a space is neutral while adding color in accessories, accent walls or a piece of furniture. It creates a more cohesive/pulled together look.

Since Valentine's Day is tomorrow, I have pulled together some of my favorite spaces that showcase that "right amount" of red. You can take this same concept and integrate it with any bold color of your choice.

I am not sure if it is getting older or the time of year, but I have been obsessing about simplicity and a place to feel calm and relaxed.

Did you know that there is a little psychology behind Color? Well there is. A specific color can make you feel energetic, angry, strong, gentle, sexy, compassionate, etc.

Here is a little color theory on the color White: pure, clean, pristine, spotless, innocent, silent, lightweight, airy, bright, clarity, simplicity, artic.

Mint & Gold

I haven't posted about color combinations in so long and then I can across some mint and gold gorgeousness. Can you tell I am longing for Spring? It will be in the 60's today and this color combination makes me want to strut around in my mint pants with some gold bangles and earings.

CORAL & GRAY

There is something about this color combo that gets me every time. I think the cool and warmth of these combined colors really tie all of these spaces together.

You could go bold and add a statement wall in Coral or add just a pop here and there with a pillow, headboard or throw. This color combo whispers "relaxation".

Pink and Orange

I have really been into bright and cheery colors lately! I have been inspired by all of the wonderful colors that come from nature this time of year.

Not sure if I would really add this color combo to my home, but I am really digging the loud, vibrant feel it brings to cold and blank spaces!
