Under the Sink {Organization}

Those of you who have been following me for a while know that my 2012 Resolution was to get organized! I think I have done pretty well with the organization of my Laundry Closet, Master Linen Closet, OfficeHallway Bathroom, Entryway Bench and DVD Organization.

This past weekend I tackled organizing under my kitchen sink. YIKES! We have lived in this home for 4 years and I have just kept piling stuff under the sink until it looked like this:

I know some of you are thinking that it isn't that bad, but when you can't even find your everyday cleaner....that's a problem!

So...I went to Pinterest for some inspiration and here is what I found:

The lazy susan would give me a place for the items I use daily and I liked the idea of the tension rod to hold my spray bottles. It would also give me some extra space below to organize other cleaning products.

It was then off to Target!

I found this small lazy susan for only $5.99! I debated between a metal or plastic lazy susan, but ended up with the plastic choice. The plastic will be easy to clean under the sink spills.

These small plastic bins were also perfect size for under the sink and they were on sale for $3.99 each!

My last purchase was the tension rod for $5.99. I bought a thin oval rod instead of a round rod. I knew that some of my spray bottles had smaller nozzles, so the rod had to be a bit thinner.
It ended up working out perfect!

I emptied everything out from underneath the sink and gave it a good cleaning!
(who knows when the last time that happened)
Have you ever wondered why there are so many contraptions under the sink? I mean...you would think they would have come up with a better idea by now! Geez!

Next, the oval tension rod went up! It was placed from one end of the cabinet to the other.

The Lazy susan was placed closest to the door for immediate access. These are mostly products I use on a regular basis (minus the Ant Killer).

One plastic bin went closer to the back with supplies that are used only on rainy days.

And.....the finished product!

Not too spiffy huh? Aside from going to Target, this whole project maybe took me 45mins to organize.
 So far so good! It has stayed this way for 3 days now...hehe.

This little bit of organization only cost me $20! And to think....I was going to go to The Container Store to buy some items. I would have walked out of there with at least $50-$100 worth.
So thankful for Target....my first love!

  1. Hi Amy,
    Ah, yes, your under sink area looks like it will work much better for you now. Really, how does that area go instantly from not too bad to what the heck! ... I think we all struggle with this issue. I've tried several organizational schemes over the past 18 months and I'm happy now with some installed pull-out's that facilitate me reaching all the way to the back of the 24" base cabinet {my arms just aren't that long ... don't think anyone's are!}
