Something's Brewing.....A Surprise!

Happy Hump Day All!

Many of you have been following this blog for a long time. You have also been following our journey of Adoption that was announced last year around this time. (You can read about that Here.) It has been a roller coaster this year with paperwork and "waiting". (I gave you my thoughts about infertility and waiting in this post.)  Well, just a few short months ago we decided to put our adoption on hold because God had something else in store for our lives.....

He had something bigger in store than either one of us realized. We are so excited to announce that we are expecting TWINS in May! I am 14 weeks pregnant today and feeling really well. We got to hear the little heartbeats yesterday and to say it was amazing is an understatement.

So now you all know why I had to take a bit of a blogging break over the past couple of months. Nausea plus no energy equals no projects and very little inspiration. But I am back in action and feeling great. I can't wait to share with all of you our nursery plans... now that we will have two little ones to add to our already semi- ready nursery.

I am so very blessed to be able to share this wonderful news with all of you. I am so glad I know a God who knows the path for my life better than I do. I can't wait to share my life with this two precious gifts who will someday call me "mama".

Hope you all have an amazing day!

(P.S.....don't worry, this won't turn into a baby blog. But if you all don't mind there might be a post sprinkled in here and there about nurseries and babies!)

Nursery Update {Lighting for Less}

If you all have been following Eat.Sleep.Decorate. for a while, you know we are starting to work on a sweet nursery for baby to be. (You can read more about our adoption story Here.) We were officially approved and accepted on December 11th. So at this time we are considered a "waiting family" and are patiently awaiting a new bundle of joy in 2014.

Since we are not sure when a baby will be arriving, we are taking our sweet time with the nursery.  I of course am enjoying every second of it. However, it is quite difficult picking items out without knowing the sex of the baby.  A couple of months ago some of my fabulous friends designed some mood boards to help jump start my nursery plans. I loved each one of them and have pulled some ideas that I will definitely be using in the baby's room. (You can see the nursery plans Here, Here, Here and Here)

One item that I had been keeping my eye on was this drum shade from Shades of Lights. I thought it to be playful, yet a classy touch to the nursery. It comes with the choice of antique brass or satin nickel hardware.

I had my heart set on this until I realized is was $259! I know that isn't that much money for lighting and I have splurged on some great lighting options for my home in the past, but I knew I wanted to use my money wisely in this space. I want to be smart and splurge on other items like the glider-rocker and bedding. So when I came across this pendant from Land of Nod, I knew I had made the right decision to wait on the previous choice!

Even though it is a pendant and not a semi-flush mount, I had my dad shorten the wiring and it hung perfectly! It really is a show stopper when you see it in the room.

(You can see a little peek of the roman shade I have been working on!)

The Light is even 10 times more amazing when it is turned on...

I think the little one will love laying underneath looking up...quite a sight!

So even though I had my heart set on the more expensive light, I am glad I saved a few bucks and decided to go with the Land of Nod pendant. (By the way..it is on sale right now!) I am in love!

What do you all think? Would you have splurged on lighting for the nursery or spent your money elsewhere?

Have a wonderful start to the week!

A Look Back at 2013 {Top Posts}

We are now in the final day of 2013. Doesn't seem possible...does it? I sat down with my coffee this morning and thought back on this year. It was full of excitement, trials, adventure, hard work and just plain life. I am ready for 2014 in someways, a fresh start of sorts. But, as I look back on 2013 I wouldn't change any of the memories, trials, adventures because they have yet again helped me grow as a person and have changed me for the better.

Today is one of my favorite days as a blogger. I love looking back at what has been all of your top posts over the past year. Some surprise me, some make me laugh and some give me courage to tackle harder more challenging projects for the next year. Hope you enjoy a look back at 2013 and all the craziness that went on around this little ole blog.....

Neutral Nursery #4- Guest Post {Emily A. Clark}

It's Friday! Can you all believe it? I am so sad that this fun Neutral Nursery series is coming to an end. I have so enjoyed seeing other's perspectives of the same room that I am going to design for baby to be. I have taken bits and pieces from each room design and I can't wait to share the progress after the holidays with all of you. Thanks for following along! Nursery Design #1, Nursery Design #2, Nursery Design #3

Today you are going to see what the amazing Emily A. Clark has designed! She is another talented designer who is no stranger to the nursery scene, since she has 5 children! Her home is so inviting and she creates spaces with class and practicality. Emily is also one of the sweetest ladies. I have been in touch with her over the past few years via blogging and finally got to meet her this past summer at the Haven Conference in Atlanta. I am so excited that she is apart of this series.

Let's see what my girl came up with, shall we?..................

*********************************************************************************

I’m honored that Amy asked me to give her my two cents about what her nursery should look like.  I came up with what, I hope, is a fun mix of both feminine and masculine elements that could be played up more either way with artwork and accessories, depending on which little blessing she brings home.  I’m excited to see her nursery come together and more excited about the plan God has for her family.

Don't you feel instantly relaxed when you look at this design? I seriously think I just got sleepy! (That's a good thing since baby needs to sleep in there.) That crib is just beautiful and oh so classy. The metallic edged mirror gives the room a little texture and you can never go wrong with stripes in a nursery whether in a rug, painting or window treatments! I love that sweet ottoman fabric. Take a look at it closely..it has animals mixed in with the leaves. So sweet! Thanks so much Emily! I absolutely love it!

Now I have some serious decisions to make. At least the walls and ceiling are prepped and painted. Now comes the fun part. Hope to be able to share some updates with all of you after the holiday season. If you are visiting today, you can see our Adoption Announcement Here. A HUGE THANK YOU to my sweet ladies for being apart of this series Courtney, Denise, Abby & Emily. XOXO

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I will be back here next week with some holiday decorating and entertaining tips. Hope to see you all then!
