What's Up Friday!

Yahoo! It is Fri-Tay! My favorite day of the week! (wink, wink)

I told you I have some crazy things going on lately! My brother has been helping flip a house with an investor and he has asked me to help him pick out lighting, tile, paint, etc. It has been a blast, but a lot of work!

Last week the tile and granite went in! (These pics are taken on the floor of Home Depot, so no worries!)

Today, I have a lot of pillow making to do....

Don't you love these colors and patterns?

This bird pillow was my inspiration for the color palette. I found this beauty at HomeGoods! It has a chartreuse binding that I love!

These two patterns are actually napkins from West Elm. These will be made into pillows today too!

I found this fabric at JoAnn's yesterday, and I think it ties all the colors and patterns together!

This fabric is leftover from my chair makeover. I think this pillow will add a little texture to the pile.

I am making all these pillow for the bonus room of the home my brother is finishing up! The home is vacant and I also get to help stage a few rooms! I am pumped! I will be staging the kitchen, bathrooms, bonus nook, entryway and fireplace. I promise to show you some before and after pics next week!

And...I haven't told you that I am also in Real Estate. So...we will be putting the flip house on the market this weekend too! It has really been a great home to flip. Mostly cosmetic fix-ups! I will hopefully be able to show you some before and afters of what my brother and I have been up to!

Okay...and one last thing this weekend!

You guessed it....Baby Showers!!

I have two baby showers for some special friends. I am in charge of decorations for the one shower. I am growing some wheat grass in baby food jars for the tables.

Let's Hope they grow by Sunday! YIKES

Okay, I am officially overwhelmed after writing this post! I gotta run and get all those things done!

Growing Wheat Grass

Yes I am growing grass! (not the kind you smoke) You guys are always thinking the worse! HA!

I love bringing the outdoors in and what better way than growing real grass!

I wasn't really sure on how to go about it, but I saw these rock tea light holders at Arhaus and I knew I needed to grow some grass!

First, I went to our local Whole Foods store and bought 2 LBs of wheat berries. (yeah I didn't know what a wheat berry was either!)

Then, I put a large handful into a glass jar and added some water. I let them soak for almost a whole day.

Next, I added some potting soil to my rock'n rocks!

Then I spread the soaked seeds onto the top of the soil.

If you look close enough, you can actually see some little white sprouts!

I soaked the soil really well and left them on the kitchen windowsill over the weekend.

After only 4 days!! Not kidding.....

WE HAVE GRASS!!

Why can't our yard grass grow that quickly? Ummm...

I think they are adorable. I am going to move them into the dining room this weekend. I need a little green miracle in that room!

A Nursery Makeover

It seems to be the season for babies! I have 10...yes 10 friends having babies from February 2012 till sometime in the Fall 2012! That is at least one baby a month! Yikes!...talk about baby shower galore!
Most of my friends know that I am not a BIG baby shower fan. I am just not in to all the cheesy baby games and such. (No offense) However I do like all the decorating and preparing that goes into a baby shower. I am actually hosting one next weekend with a few favorite ladies. I will have to show you what we have up our sleeves next week!

What I love most about the season of babies are all the darling baby Nurseries that are out there! There is so much you can do to a nursery to make it personal yet Fabulous!

Last month, my friend Shannon sent me some pictures of her Nursery. She wanted to ask my opinion on the room and how to add some color without going crazy. Shannon really likes neutrals. Neutrals are very soothing and can really work as long as you have a few pops of a contrasting color here and there. She went with a subtle Owl theme..check out her nursery thus far:

Isn't it adorable? I am really in love with the bedding!

Shannon and I decided that she needed a rug to punch it up a notch as well as something on the wall above the crib.

Some rugs that I found that might work in her nursery space are:

Gray and White Zig Zag

Lattice Dhurrie Rug in Orange or Gray

West Elm Striped Rug

Cream Plush Rug from Urban Outfitters

Zig Zag from Urban Outfitters

(Comes in a lot of great colors!!)

We also met for lunch last week and took a stroll through West Elm. Shannon instantly fell in love with all of these fun Paper Mache Animal Heads:

They were a little pricey, so I came home and did some research. I found these cardboard cuties:

They were also more than half the price! She could even spray paint them some fun colors and hang them above the crib. Wouldn't the baby just love looking at some bright colors?

I will have Shannon send us some updated pictures as soon as her nursery is finished! I can't wait to meet her new baby boy coming in less than a month!

We Have Paint!!

You are probably thinking "OMG...you're alive!" or else you are just here visiting and thinking "What on earth is she talking about?"

I have been taking a little bloggy break. Not that I really wanted to, it just seemed to turn out that way over the past 2 weeks! Yikes! I can't believe it has been 2 weeks since I have written a post!

I have been doing some of this:

You would be proud to know that I do have paint in the entryway! And I am happy with my final decision. As some of you may remember, I have had quite the time deciding on a gray color for my entryway. So many shades of gray! Why do they do that to us!!??

I found a few that I really liked: 1.Graphite 2. Slate 3.Bonsai 4. Colonade Gray 5. Mindful Gray

I really fell in love with Graphite from Restoration Hardware, but felt that it would be too dark in such a small entryway hallway. I am really going to keep this color in mind when I redo my master bath! Colonade Gray and Mindful gray were very soothing, but when the sun came in the front, they were a little on the blue side and I don't have any blue tones downstairs.

So...... I decided to go with Bonsai by Valspar based on the tone on the wall as well as this picture I found online:

This picture sold me right away! A perfect gray that isn't too dark, too light, too blue...just right! It does change color throughout the day. It has a greener tone in the morning and a taupe tone in the evening. I love it!

Here are a couple of pics...(warning: camera wasn't cooperating..bad pics!)

These pictures were also taken with only 1 coat of paint on the walls. I needed two coats to cover up all of those stinkin paint samples! HA!

I am excited to get all my decor items together for this entryway space and hopefully show you all next week!

Look what came the other day:

Ummm..yep! My Carpet Tiles! Now I just have to figure out how to make them all stay together!

Entryway Progress

One more day till the weekend! I don't know about you, but I have to make a countdown each week. It helps keep me motivated and moving toward a goal. I am looking forward to finishing up the painting in the entryway this weekend.

I have made a little progress. The wainscoting has been primed, sanded and one coat of paint!

I also bought this beauty:

A Martha Stewart Special from Home Depot.

I found this fabric on Hawthorne Threads for the bench seat cushion:

I have had such a hard time finding a rug for the entryway because it has weird dimensions. So I am thinking of ordering these carpet tiles from FLOR. I like the herringbone pattern in them and I can also lay them in parquet style for a little more of a weave.

The dimensions are perfect and I can always add more tiles if needed. I also love that these tiles can endure "HEAVY" traffic. This is the meeting and entering place of our home. Where we track in dirt, grass....etc. I need a rug to be quite durable!

So that is where I am at. I am  hoping to have all of the painting done this weekend so I can share my color choice with all of you on Monday.
