{DIY} Geometric Pillow Made From Striped Fabric

Hello Hello and Happy Hump Day! I hope you all are having a fabulous week. I am so enjoying the cooler weather here in NC (finally) and have slowly started to pull out the Fall and Halloween Decorations. Hope to have some of my Fall decor up on the blog next week.

Today we are talking DIY pillows. I am a pillow freak. My grandfather who is 89 tells me that it takes him forever to get all the pillows off the guestroom bed before he can go to sleep! ...bless his heart. You may remember my easy Napkin Pillows and my unique lumbar pillows that I have made over the past few years.

A few months ago I found this little beauty on this Etsy site and was considering buying it for our guest bedroom. Luckily I procrastinated because I found a simple DIY on my friend Brittany's blog and knew I could recreate the look for A LOT less.  It looked easy enough to tackle and I had all the supplies on hand...a plus!

I used a piece of cardboard to make a template for the four triangles that Brittany Mentions here. The pillow went together fairly quickly! I think I may make a bunch for each room of the house! (kidding...not kidding)

Here is my final beauty!

And here is a little sneak peek of what has been going on in the guest room. Hope to share more with you very very soon!

Next up...I want to try and make these little beauties from striped fabric. Aren't they fun?

Who else is a pillow hoarder out there!!??? Please tell me I am not the only one!

Welcome to Tuesday! What do you all have planned today? Isn't Tuesday a weird day?....I mean it isn't the beginning of the week, but you aren't to hump day yet. You are kind of just stuck between the beginning and middle of the week. Do you feel stuck today? HA! (that was a weird thought....anyway moving on)

I have found some more treats for all of you today. I love when I find a clever idea or neat trick from some fabulous bloggers from around the web.

ONE: I absolutely love the look of dried hydrangeas for fall. My friend Kim shares her secret on the correct way to dry them to get that perfect look.

TWO: Have you seen Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady's new home in LA? Architectual Digest did a large featured post about their gorgeous and a bit over the top 22,000 sqft home.

You also need to check out what my friend Cassie had to say about
their home being simple? HA! You must read her post HERE!

THREE: Walmart is seriously stepping up their game with their online supply of fashionable furniture. I am normally not a Walmart fan, but check out this beautiful upholstered daybed. I may have to convert after seeing this beauty.

Fall Layering, Favorite Fall Decor Finds

Thank you everyone for all the wonderful birthday wishes this weekend. I had a relaxing birthday weekend (because you know I celebrated ALL weekend) and felt very loved.

We were also blessed with cooler temperatures this weekend. This weather has inspired me to start nesting and getting ready for the fall. There is something about the cooler weather that puts my mind at ease...a slower pace of life. A time for relaxation and reflection before we head into the busy holiday season.

Fall is also about layering...in fashion and home decor. Whether it be layering different textures of pillows, throws and/or rugs, there is something very cozy and calming about fall decor.

Today I have picked some of my favorite fall items that will not only give some fun elements to your space, but also create that feeling of fall in the colors, textures and patterns.

Shop this look: Mirror, Abstract Pillow, Faux deer head, Settee, Lamp, Throw, Tray, Wool Rug, Sheep skin Rug, Coffee Table, Jute edged pillow, Fall Leaf Pillow

This is only one of many ways to create a cozy fall space in your home. Switching out pillows and throws to fall color palettes is a cheap and easy way to start creating this look. Then adding some pops of colors with cute accent pieces such as trays, vases and baskets will brighten up the look. You don't have to break the bank to make small changes for fall.

Do you have a space that needs a little sprucing up? Send me a pictures at: eatsleepdecorate(at)gmail(dot)com

I would love to help you design the look you are going for!!

Fabulous Feature Friday {The Hunted Interior}

We made it my friends...to FRIDAY!! Do you have any big plans? I may or may not know someone who is going to celebrate her birthday this weekend. This person is inching closer and closer to her mid 30's! And when that happens..you must celebrate ALL weekend. HA!

You are all in for a real treat today. I met Kristen at the blogging conference last month and she is a talented lady and amazing person. She is THE vignette and styling queen.. She lives near the city of Atlanta in a small home, but boy has she been able to pack so much style and pizzazz into her small space.

Enjoy!

Can you believe that she has DIYed many items throughout her space? Like the gold lamp above the sink, the entryway console table, the cowhide in her daughter's room, live edge table on the deck and so much more!! As I said at the beginning of this post...she is one talented gal!

To see more of her home go HERE and visit her blog HERE.

Thanks Kristen for letting us view your amazing home today!

{DIY} Cheap & Easy Fall Decorating Ideas

I want Fall to come so badly and yet it will be 90 degrees here today in NC! It is hard to get motivated to decorate for Fall when the weather is hot as heck! So I thought that maybe a few inspirational pics would inspire you and ME!

Some of these DIY's you might notice from around the web or from our own home the past couple of years. I am in love with decorating for Fall as much as I am for Christmas.

Reuse those summer lanterns and fill them with fall items like gourds, leaves and candles!

Quick and easy tea light holders made out of glass containers and twigs!

Boo! Chalk Painted Chargers for Halloween or anytime of year!

Burlap and Ribbon wreath

White pumpkin succulent gardens. Aren't these adorable!? I think I might have to try my hand at these little guys. What a fun centerpiece this would be!

Black and White Pumpkins

Halloween Tin Can Luminaries
You could use this idea with any party or holiday! How fun would these be for Christmas with the words Joy, Peace, Noel, etc punched into the cans? Start saving those cans my friends!

Pine cone garland
So fun! These would be great hanging from your mantel or draped over a chandelier for a punch of color.

All of these DIYs are fairly quick, cheap and add a touch of fall to any space. Which one are you tempted to try this season?

Fall Color Trend- Shades of Purple

I know what you all are thinking..."How can we add purple into our home decor without making it look too girly?" There are so many ways to add different shades of purple to make your space feel cozy and sophisticated without making it juvenile and girly. I for one am not a HUGE fan of purple, but often like shades of lilac, plum and lavender in my closet.

After seeing these paint colors in the new issue of Better Homes and Gardens it was confirmed that you will be seeing shades of purple a little more this fall. So lets take a look at some spaces where purple is being used in classy ways.

This room I love because the shade of purple is very subtle. Can you see it? The dark Plum quilt creates a cozy and rich feel to this space.

This idea isn't very subtle, but sure makes a pretty statement. A little collection of lilac bottles really pops against the white built ins.

You all know that I love me some yellow and when paired with this beautiful shade of grayish purple it really creates a warm space. Pairing cool colors with warm colors says balanced and inviting.

Another fabulous layering of purples, plums, yellows, and oranges within the wallpaper, lamps and bedding.

Purple is done very elegantly in this space. Don't you feel sophisticated just viewing this room? You don't have to add such an huge impact with the purple chairs, but I am loving the oriental rug that has shades of purple which you could pull from by adding a throw or pillow.

I really love this regal feel when dark plum is paired with touches of gold. There are definitely some traditional elements to this room, but also some glamour chic. Loving the mix!

BHG

This is definitely one of my favorites spaces when we talk about adding shades of purple. You don't have to make a large impact by painting your walls purple or even purchasing expensive bedding...how about just adding some inexpensive pillows in shades of plum and burgundy. You can then change the pillows out when you are sick of the color or with the change of seasons.

So what do you all think? Could you jump on the shades of purple bandwagon this Fall?

Happy Hump Day All!

Tuesday Treats from Around the Web

Well hello my friends! Yes it has been over two weeks since I have posted anything on this little ole blog. I believe that is a record or something. I have missed you dearly and am excited to get back into the swing of things. Believe me...I would have rather been hanging with all of you than completing the daunting task of looking up 120 homes in the Raleigh/Fayetteville area and creating a comparative market analysis on each one. Yikes! The task is complete and I am anxious to share some ideas on my mind today.

Between my large task over the past couple of weeks, I would get on the computer to read a few blogs that I follow and also do some research for clients and/or friends. Tuesday is going to become my day to share some "treats" from around the web that I have found inspiring or helpful.

ONE: This first treat I am totally going to take a stab at in my own home: How to paint stripes the right way! My friend Megan shared a How to on her blog last week.

Aren't those wide stripes fabulous!? I thinking I am going to try and tackle some in my entryway hallway. Wish me luck!

TWO: Okay this next treat is just adorable and so cheap and simple! How about spray painting those alphabet magnetic letters gold? Seriously awesome! I have a black refrigerator and these little guys would really pop and create some chic artwork in my kitchen!

THREE: I made this breakfast smoothie this morning and it is delicious! The Hubs and I have been drinking different types of smoothies in the morning to get a jump start to our day. We often mix fruits, vegetables, flax seed, chia seeds, yogurt and coconut milk. This has been my favorite morning tradition plus a healthy alternative!

FOUR: Do you ever feel like everyday you are Hustlin' to get everything done? Really? Not me...HA! JUST KIDDING! I feel the same way. Well my friend Chelsea designed this FREE wallpaper for your desktop! I am so going to download this today. Wouldn't this be fun to open your computer up to in the morning!?

FIVE: I came across this image yesterday and I am loving the touches of classic, modern, rustic and bohemian all in one space! I have crushes on rooms that seem to be collected over time. They seem more personal and cozy. You can check out the full tour of Margaret Elizabeth's home HERE

Well that wraps up this Tuesday's Treats! Thanks for sticking with me over the past couple of weeks. So excited to share some projects and Fall inspiration with all of you this week!

Have a Terrific Tuesday All!

P.S. I have a little survey going on my facebook page. Care to give me your opinion??
