When Procrastinating... I {Organize}!!

When some people are procrastinating or get distracted from the task at hand they are usually watching TV, reading books, answering the kids questions, talking on the phone...etc. When I procrastinate....I Organize something! I know that sounds weird, but I love to organize and this will definitely keep me occupied for quite a while if I am trying to avoid doing something else.

That is just what I did the other day. I was suppose to be doing the laundry and putting away all the clothes and such from our last trip when I noticed that my vanity drawers were getting a little out of control. They needed a good wipe down and there were products that needed to be thrown away!

I have had these drawer organizers for a while now and I couldn't live without them. (well..I could, but don't want to!) Each compartment has its own identity!

I also decided (thanks to pinterest) that I would leave my brushes out so they would be more accessible for me to get ready in the morning! I used a little round vase that I got at Walmart for .75c and some pebbles I had leftover from a previous project that I got at Crate and Barrel.

From there I added my $2.00 antique tray from the thrift store to hold my most frequently used beauty supplies.

Don't you love these acrylic containers? Found at The Container Store a couple years ago.

I am so glad I decided to procrastinate the other day!! (minus the loads of laundry that still need folding)

How about you...what do you like to do when you are procrastinating!?

Changing up the Ole Bar Stools

Do you ever just sit and stare at the interiors for your home? No!...well I do! You all might think I am a little quirky, but I notice every detail of everything! Ask my momma!

One day I was sitting in a different spot in my living room looking over into my kitchen and I saw this...

Some of you are like...well yeah. So what? I noticed a lot of maple wood. Don't get me wrong, I like my maple cabinets but having those bar stools match the maple cabinets is a little TOO much maple for my liking. I absolutely adore my West Elm Pendants and wanted to add either a little pop of color with my bar stools or maybe a little industrial metal to tie in those pendants.

I love Emily's bar stools that she purchased on overstock (2 for $99)!!
They really add a punch of color to her darker cabinets.

Here are a couple of others I found on the web that I like:
source unknown

These bar stools are very similar to mine. I guess I could always paint mine a fun color?!

Again...I am drawn to that industrial look as well.

I found a few different choices around the web that might interest you (or not)!

Overstock: (2 for $99) Come in a variety of colors and your choice for bar or counter height! Wouldn't the yellow give my kitchen a little pop?

Or I could go with more of a vintage/industrial look with these guys. Once again Overstock (2 for $109).

This vintage drafting stool interests me as well. I like the wood and metal mix. World Market $119.99.

These ribbon bar stools from West Elm are also adorable..but only have the red one left.
Won't work in my space, but the red is on sale!! ($89.99 for bar height & $79.99 for counter)

So many decisions...what is a girl suppose to do? What do you all think?
Help!

{DIY} Dipped Baskets

I few weeks ago I saw these Ombre dipped vases at HomeGoods. I thought they were interesting but decided against buying them. Of course I now regret that because they would look so amazing on my mantel this summer! Oh well...that might have to be a future DIY project.

Anyhoo...that got me thinking about my boring brown baskets under the TV console. I have been staring at this area for a while now trying to figure out what needs to change.

It felt like the TV area was one big brown blob! Then I remembered those white dipped vases and that's when the light bulb went on! What if I dipped the baskets just a bit to create a little depth to this space!? Aren't I just genius? HA!

So on I went using what I had around the house....

I painted using a harder bristle brush so the paint would really get into the cracks of the basket.

No painters tape needed! I just used my eye and the different weaves to help me stay pretty straight. I painted about four inches up from the bottom. (This is a fairly large sized basket from World Market!)

Then it was time to test my theory...was the big brown blob gone?

Yep! It sure was! I am loving the extra little pop under the TV. You actually notice these amazing baskets now where as before they just blended in.

This project cost me $0 because I had everything on hand in my garage! Think of the possibilities of this DIY...you could use fun bright colors in a kids room, dip dye some storage containers for the flour and sugar on your counter or even dip your garden pots for the summer!

IN. LOVE.....

What do you think? What could you see dip dyed in your own home?

My Weekend View...

Hello my peeps! Oh how I have missed all of you and missed blogging. I needed a little blogging break last week since life has been busy with house flipping and just getting organized with business. I am now refreshed and ready to rock this week. I am excited to share so many ideas and DIY's that I wish I could post them all today!

My weekend was filled with fun and also a little relaxation. Did you see the yucky yellow pollen that I posted on Instagram? (@eatsleepdecor) It has kept us indoors most of the weekend. If you have walked out the door you would have been covered!! I was so bummed that we couldn't keep the windows open because of this gross stuff too! Hopefully we will get a great rain and wash it all away. I  am sitting here complaining about the pollen when half of you are probably still stuck in snow! I can't believe I saw some snow pictures on Instagram yesterday from some of my Northern friends. So Sorry! I will be sending warm weather waves your way today!!

The Hubs decided to buy his own set of aerating shoes this year to save money. He might have saved money, but definitely didn't save any time! He was out there from 6:00-9:30 one evening aerating and seeding. I had to get a picture because I thought it was hilarious!

I stopped at HomeGoods this past weekend and saw this neat artwork. It is hard to tell from this picture, but it was very large and the white sea urchins are actually raised to feel like 3-D! I didn't buy it, but I thought I might be able to replicate it! What do you think?

I also took my dad to an antique car show in our little town. I am not really a car girl, but loved all the brightly colored vehicles! I thought it would be so neat to take pictures of the different bumpers and taillights to be framed for a little boys room. Wouldn't that be amazing!?

Our town also had local artists painting all of the historic buildings in town. At the end of the evening they lined up to be judged. I never did stick around to see who won, but let me tell you...we have some talented artists in the Raleigh area!

I got to help surprise a good friend on this 30th birthday with a casino night!

Each one of us got $10,000 to gamble with. (not a real $10,000..I wish!)

He was surprised!!!

How adorable is this cake and these cupcakes!? The sister-in law made it! Those dice are made out of fondant! They looked so real!

Sunday was a day of rest. The Hubs and I read blogs and watched The Masters (well I took a Master's nap). This was my view Sunday afternoon....

Last, but certainly not least... my mama and I toured the local nursery and dreamed of what our gardens could look like. I have started planting a little, but I can't wait to really dive in this next weekend.

I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend too! Is it Spring weather where you are or are you knee deep in that yucky white stuff?

See you back here tomorrow for a little DIY!

Fabulous Feature Friday {Hanging w/ The Hewitts}

Happy Friday All! Hope everyone has some awesome plans for their weekend! We are headed back home from our Spring break today. It is bittersweet. It was a relaxing week, but I am ready to get home and start working in my gardens!

Over the past month I have been featuring different reader's Organization Projects. They sure have inspired me to get going on the unfinished projects around the house. This Friday's Feature is of Caycee's beautiful home. As soon as I saw her home tour, I knew I needed to show all of you!

I love the relaxed feel of this space with the different textures in the rug and window treatments. How about the painting above the fireplace? Love.IT.

Lots of natural light in this breakfast nook. Take a look at the lighting in each room. Caycee really makes a statement with her chandeliers and pendants!

Another relaxing living room on her second floor. I would die for two living rooms...so much space!

My favorite spaces in her home are the kids bedrooms. She really paid attention to every detail in her son's room. LOVE the pops of yellow against the calming blue walls. Just adorable!

Her daughter's nursery is gorgeous. It seriously looks like a picture out of a magazine! Classy, pink and perfect!

The playroom is another fabulous space with pops of colors everywhere! Using baskets and metal buckets to organize this space, she is able to put everything away quickly before guests arrive.

Another wonderful soothing room with just the right amount of color. Can I come stay over?

Her master bedroom isn't very large, but with her seamless design she creates flow and allows the room to feel very spacious.

I want a glitzy chandelier in my laundry room!

Seriously wish I had this backyard that overlooked a pond with Spanish moss hanging in my trees!

A BIG Thank-You to Caycee for allowing me to show off her home today! Please make sure you go and visit her blog: Hanging with the Hewitts. She has a fabulous sense of humor and shows you the latest fashions as well as gives you everyday insight into the world of a mamma!!

Have a wonderful weekend!
