My Weekend View...

Hello my peeps! Oh how I have missed all of you and missed blogging. I needed a little blogging break last week since life has been busy with house flipping and just getting organized with business. I am now refreshed and ready to rock this week. I am excited to share so many ideas and DIY's that I wish I could post them all today!

My weekend was filled with fun and also a little relaxation. Did you see the yucky yellow pollen that I posted on Instagram? (@eatsleepdecor) It has kept us indoors most of the weekend. If you have walked out the door you would have been covered!! I was so bummed that we couldn't keep the windows open because of this gross stuff too! Hopefully we will get a great rain and wash it all away. I  am sitting here complaining about the pollen when half of you are probably still stuck in snow! I can't believe I saw some snow pictures on Instagram yesterday from some of my Northern friends. So Sorry! I will be sending warm weather waves your way today!!

The Hubs decided to buy his own set of aerating shoes this year to save money. He might have saved money, but definitely didn't save any time! He was out there from 6:00-9:30 one evening aerating and seeding. I had to get a picture because I thought it was hilarious!

I stopped at HomeGoods this past weekend and saw this neat artwork. It is hard to tell from this picture, but it was very large and the white sea urchins are actually raised to feel like 3-D! I didn't buy it, but I thought I might be able to replicate it! What do you think?

I also took my dad to an antique car show in our little town. I am not really a car girl, but loved all the brightly colored vehicles! I thought it would be so neat to take pictures of the different bumpers and taillights to be framed for a little boys room. Wouldn't that be amazing!?

Our town also had local artists painting all of the historic buildings in town. At the end of the evening they lined up to be judged. I never did stick around to see who won, but let me tell you...we have some talented artists in the Raleigh area!

I got to help surprise a good friend on this 30th birthday with a casino night!

Each one of us got $10,000 to gamble with. (not a real $10,000..I wish!)

He was surprised!!!

How adorable is this cake and these cupcakes!? The sister-in law made it! Those dice are made out of fondant! They looked so real!

Sunday was a day of rest. The Hubs and I read blogs and watched The Masters (well I took a Master's nap). This was my view Sunday afternoon....

Last, but certainly not least... my mama and I toured the local nursery and dreamed of what our gardens could look like. I have started planting a little, but I can't wait to really dive in this next weekend.

I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend too! Is it Spring weather where you are or are you knee deep in that yucky white stuff?

See you back here tomorrow for a little DIY!

Fabulous Feature Friday {Hanging w/ The Hewitts}

Happy Friday All! Hope everyone has some awesome plans for their weekend! We are headed back home from our Spring break today. It is bittersweet. It was a relaxing week, but I am ready to get home and start working in my gardens!

Over the past month I have been featuring different reader's Organization Projects. They sure have inspired me to get going on the unfinished projects around the house. This Friday's Feature is of Caycee's beautiful home. As soon as I saw her home tour, I knew I needed to show all of you!

I love the relaxed feel of this space with the different textures in the rug and window treatments. How about the painting above the fireplace? Love.IT.

Lots of natural light in this breakfast nook. Take a look at the lighting in each room. Caycee really makes a statement with her chandeliers and pendants!

Another relaxing living room on her second floor. I would die for two living rooms...so much space!

My favorite spaces in her home are the kids bedrooms. She really paid attention to every detail in her son's room. LOVE the pops of yellow against the calming blue walls. Just adorable!

Her daughter's nursery is gorgeous. It seriously looks like a picture out of a magazine! Classy, pink and perfect!

The playroom is another fabulous space with pops of colors everywhere! Using baskets and metal buckets to organize this space, she is able to put everything away quickly before guests arrive.

Another wonderful soothing room with just the right amount of color. Can I come stay over?

Her master bedroom isn't very large, but with her seamless design she creates flow and allows the room to feel very spacious.

I want a glitzy chandelier in my laundry room!

Seriously wish I had this backyard that overlooked a pond with Spanish moss hanging in my trees!

A BIG Thank-You to Caycee for allowing me to show off her home today! Please make sure you go and visit her blog: Hanging with the Hewitts. She has a fabulous sense of humor and shows you the latest fashions as well as gives you everyday insight into the world of a mamma!!

Have a wonderful weekend!

A Pop of Color in Unexpected Places

A few weeks ago I shared a DIY that I created on the doors in our entryway. I was trying to add a pop of color, but ended up going with a dark shade on the edges of the doors. (I pretty much chickened out!)

There are so many great ideas around the web on how to add color in unexpected places. These pops of color really keep your eye moving around a space.

Not sure about the Ombre, but how cute would it be to add a pop of color to the kick plates of your staircase!?

There are so many great idea of adding a pop of color to a dresser or vanity. You can chose to spice up the side of the drawers or the inside with paint and/or decorative paper.

Now...this is very unexpected, but I love! Painting just the trim around the window in an all white kitchen!

How about adding some color to your dining room chairs and leaving the rest of the room neutral. It sure would add that pop that you are looking for!

Or..you could go with the opposite. Painting the table and keeping the chairs neutral. Loving the orange!

Here is the inspiration picture that I had for my entryway. Imagine the possibilities...closets, kids rooms, bathrooms, pantry doors... you could go crazy!

I absolutely love this idea...could be my FAV of the day! Painting the curtain rods and finials a bright color. They would look fabulous in a neutral nursery or kids room!

All of these ideas would be a great addition to any home that needs just a little punch of color. Your space may be pretty neutral, but how fun would it be to add just one of these items!? The guests would be talking.... I tell ya!

Happy Hump Day All!

Liebster Award from {Baby Mama Juice}

A few weeks ago I was given this fabulous blog award from Amy@BabyMamaJuiceLiebster, in German, means endearing, valued, lovely, etc. It is a fun award to recognize bloggers for their design ideas, DIY projects and achievements.

Since I have been given this award and passed it on to many bloggers last year, I am going to answer Amy's questions in hopes that it helps you get to know me a little better as an individual.

I am very thankful and honored that Amy picked me as one of the bloggers who received this award. If you want to see who else she picked...go HERE. You must also go and check out her blog...she is absolutely hilarious. She talks about anything from fashion, trends, recipes and why she drinks Baby Mama Juice!

1.  When and why did you start your blog?
I started this blog about a year and a half ago because I needed an outlet from the everyday business world. Sitting on my computer writing contracts or emailing clients doesn't get my creative juices going...so I needed somewhere I could express my creative side!

2.  Who are your girl crushes?
Hmmm...I would have to say Jennifer Aniston...I mean who wouldn't want to look like her at the age of 44!!

3.  What is your biggest pet peeve?
HAHA...If you asked my husband this question, he would probably say my whole life is a "pet peeve". I think my biggest is when you start a project but never finish it and all of the items or tools that were used for that project are sitting in the same place for months!

4.  If you could have a second home, where would it be?
That sure is a hard question because I love the beach and the mountains just the same...but I would have to go for a mountain house. I am not one for being secluded from people, so somewhere close to a small town where I could walk in for coffee & a bagel in the morning.

5.  What is your favorite movie?
I would have to say that Pretty Women is my all time favorite movie. Julia Roberts is just stunning and who doesn't like a little romance!

6.  Where is your favorite place to shop?
Well that is a loaded question...hehe. I would say that for clothing I love to shop at J.Crew, Banana Republic and The Loft. For furniture and accessories I would say Crate & Barrel or West Elm. BUT...if you are talking everyday it would HAVE to be Target! Where else!?

7.  If you could have lunch with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?  What would you ask them?
Man...these questions keep getting harder. I have seriously pondered this question for days. In fact, this question has kept me from finishing this post! The first person that comes to mind is my Grandmother. She wasn't famous, but she was dear to my heart and died when I was in the 5th grade. I was the only granddaughter, so I was pretty spoiled by her. There are so many times throughout my life that I have paused and wished that she was there for guidance or just to talk to. She was my cheerleader and I so wish I could sit down and talk with her about her childhood. She was a graduate from high school and even had her masters degree from college, which was very rare back in those days. I would love to talk with her about her art, fashion and talents. Everyone always tells me that I got her creativity and eye for fashion. She was always dressed to the T! I never saw her wear pants! She was a true Lady. Someday I will get to ask those questions and more!

8.  Would you rather take a vacation in the mountains or the beach?
Once again this is a hard question, I love them both...but since it is like winter weather here in NC this week, I would totally go to the beach! Anywhere warm and sunny with lots of tropical/fruity drinks!

9.  How do you come up with ideas for your blog posts?
Most of my ideas come from projects around my home and/or our flip homes. As I look through pinterest, I am often struck my a fabulous design or DIY and it inspires me to write. I also get ideas from my fabulous readers! They ask questions and I try to deliver!

10.  Do you have a daily beauty routine?  If so, what is it?
This definitely varies from day to day since I work from home most days. Sometimes I stay in my yoga pants till 2pm! (don't tell anyone). The days I do get up and get out the door I start with my Dermalogica face routine (Special Cleansing gel, Gental Cream Exfoliant, Multi-active toner and Active Moist). I then use a fantastic eye cream by Artistry called Time Defiance Lifting eye cream. Depending on my outfit and how I am feeling, I use a variety of make-up products varying from Studio Gear Concelear, Clinique eyeshadow, Maybelline eyeliner to my all time favorite mascara (Lights, Camera, Lashes by Tarte). Nothing Fabulous...but it works for me and my skin!

11.  If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?
Wow...tough questions! Most women would pick something about them physically to change. While I am not 100% happy in that area that is not the most important to me. The one thing I would change about myself is to not be so anxious and fearful. I am an anxious person by nature and when change comes into my life it magnifies it...like triple! If I could just take a chill pill and enjoy the ride of life...I would be content with myself!

So how did I do? Did you learn something about me? Could you relate in some ways?
I always feel pretty Vulnerable when putting myself out there. Thanks for letting me share myself with all of you! And...thank you to Amy for the wonderful award!

XOXO

Random Monday...Things I'm Diggin

Happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful Easter Weekend! We have been enjoying a little R&R....

This sight never gets old...do you agree?

So I have found a few things around the web lately that I am totally diggin and I wanted to share with all of you in hopes that some of you dig what I dig? (WAY too many people diggin..HA!)

Aren't these Summer Ice Cubes Amazing? I need to drink more water on a daily basis and these would be not only healthy but fabulous to look at!

Did you know that you can go to Home Depot and buy at 4ft x 8ft sheet of white panel board to make your own white boards! One sheet only costs $12 and they will cut it to any size you want.

I am thinking of something like this for the Hub's office makeover....

I am seriously Crushing on Caitlin Wilson's new Spring textile line. So many fabulous colors and patterns, you must check them out!

How adorable is this reclaimed wood dog bowl holder? This wood was rescued from an old pub in downtown Raleigh. My sister-in law and brother have created some neat pieces from the old wood. You can check out their etsy site HERE. I can't wait for my reclaimed wood coffee table to be complete!

I found this gift idea on pinterest. The guys are always left out during the baby showers....why not bring them a little something too. Such a cute gift idea! Here is what was included in this daddy doody shower gift: Diapers, Diaper rash cream, gloves, goggles (home depot, about $2.50), face mask (home depot-$2.00), clothes pin for your nose, tongs for diaper disposal, hand sanitizer, baby wash, wash cloth, baby food, spoon, pacifier, baby socks, wipes and tylenol (for dad). Too cute!! Love it!

Have you ever heard of Minted? We ordered our Christmas cards from them this year and they were wonderful! Minted is made up of independent artists that can customize art prints, announcements and stationary just for you. You must go to the site if you haven't already. I think their prices are very reasonable and who wouldn't want to support an independent artist!?

Well those are my random thoughts for the day! Hope you have a wonderful Monday my friends!
