New Crush {Stowe Street} Bangles & A GIVEAWAY!

Last week I gave you a glimpse into some products and ideas that I have been diggin lately! After I wrote that post, I emailed the designer, Jessica from Stowe Street and introduced myself. I told her how much I loved her Bangles and Cuffs and how they reminded me so much of either Kate Spade or Coach designs.

She emailed me back and told me a little background of the company:
To give you a little more information about the company, it was started by my best friend from high school Jennifer and myself only a few months ago. We have been working together for the past two years on a men's bag and accessories company (www.navali.com), but we really wanted to do something for a women's market as that obviously speaks a lot more to us, so we came up with the idea for the bracelets. We have always been big fans of the clean and polished look from brands like Kate Spade and Coach, but their accessories can be super pricey, so we wanted to create a similar product at a better price point. Jen and I designed the bracelets ourselves with the help of our artist who helped our ideas come to life.

She also asked that if any of my readers (That's YOU!) had any ideas for different types of metals and/or designs to let her know! She really wants to expand this company and I think they will do very well, don't you?

And....today is YOUR LUCKY DAY because Jessica was sweet enough to give away an Ella Striped Cuff to ONE fabulous follower of Eat.Sleep.Decorate!

Just in time for Christmas! You can keep it for yourself or give it away for a gift!

{DIY} PEACE Banner

Every year Thanksgiving night is DIY Craft night while the men watch football. Last year we made knock off Anthropologie snow globes and this year we created a PEACE banner that can be hung on either a mantel or bookshelf. Once again my crafty mother-in-law came up with this fabulous idea and even brought all the supplies!

Supplies Needed:
*Burlap
*Wooden Letters
*Scrapbook paper of your choice
*Old book pages or music
*Jute string
*Nature/Christmas Inspired knick knacks
*Hot Glue Gun/ Glue Sticks
*Decorative Paper Puncher (optional)

First you need to decide on what size you want your triangle buntings to be. Then you cut them out on card stock. Next, you edge the sides with 1 inch burlap strips, gluing them down with hot glue.

Then choose a background color of your choice out of memory book paper. You can find lots of neat papers at JoAnn's or Michaels! I chose to use this neat black and white script.  Trace 5 triangles.

Then hot glue the paper to the burlap trimmed triangles.

Once you have all 5 triangles put together, hot glue the jute string onto the back of them and add one small strip of burlap to hold the string in place.

Next step is to make the little paper fans. We used vintage music from an old hymnal. You could use pages out of an old book or magazine.
As you can see we had a fancy hole punch that we used to create scallops on the bottom of the paper. We then made an accordion fold, then glued the fans to the triangle banner.

The Last part is the most consuming, but the most FUN! Gather a bunch of "stuff" from outside or in the knick knack section of JoAnn Fabrics or Michaels. Place the "stuff" anyway you want and hot glue it in place along with the letters.

And the finished product:

Isn't it quite adorable!? I love that I can leave this up all winter because it doesn't scream holidays. You could make these for any event or party. They could spell someone's name for a birthday or say "Congrats!"  for a baby shower. The possibilities are endless....

{DIY} Ruffled Tree Skirt

A few months ago I found this tutorial on HGTV. I knew that since I wanted my holiday decor to be simple and a bit rustic this year, I decided to try my hand at the Ruffled Tree Skirt that is floating all over Pinterest!

Most of the tutorials are for "No Sew" Ruffled Tree Skirts, but mine is a "kinda sew" tree skirt. I called one of my elves for help...AKA my mother-in law. I knew I wanted the skirt to look like burlap or linen, but decided that burlap would fray and linen would get too wrinkly in storage. So we decided to use Osnaburg which looks just like linen without the hassle of ironing!

My mother-in law cut 6" strips and folded them in half. She then used her ruffle foot for the sewing machine and set it on every 4th stitch to ruffle. She pretty much did the hard part! Once all the ruffles were made, we got to work putting the skirt together.

We used a white canvas fabric for the base. You can see this tutorial here on how to fold the fabric to cut a perfect (or close to perfect) circle. Mom and I used a different tree skirt and just traced the pattern from there.

We also zig zagged the edge of the base so it wouldn't unravel.

NOW...the "NO SEW" Part!!

We started at the bottom of the skirt and worked our way up. Using a hot glue gun we placed a small line of glue where we wanted the top of the ruffle to be. We slowly worked our way around the first row of ruffles.

We then started the second row of ruffles just above the first. We just eyeballed where we wanted the ruffle to stop. We wanted the bottom of the second ruffle just to cover the seam of the first row.

On and one we went....round and around! Until we got the look we wanted!

I am very curious to know how many glue sticks we used! It really did take us a couple of hours. But I think it was totally worth it! Don't you?

Here she is in all her glory around our Christmas Tree!.....
