Fabulous Feature Friday {Honey We're Home}

Happy Happy Friday! I have another great feature for you all today! My friend Megan from Honey We're Home just built her house a couple of years ago. She has really made her house a home by adding her own touches and DIYing many items throughout each space. Megan is also a very fit and healthy lady who writes Honey We're Healthy. Make sure you stop by and say hello!

Take a look at her beautiful home:

Loving the painted cabinets that make her white dishes pop! Megan and I both have an obsession for Urban Bronze by Sherwin William!

She is a styling queen! Take a look at those amazing built ins also painted Urban Bronze!

This is one amazing mudroom. I would love to have an entryway with so much storage!

Megan recently painted her doors dark gray. Head on over to see the transformation
She sure has inspired me.

Okay....I saved the best for last. Her "Mom Cave" AKA her walk in closet!! Ah-mazing!

What a beautiful place! Thanks Megan for sharing your home with all of us today! Lots of great eye candy!

Have a fabulous weekend my loves!

Picking Vanity Colors using {Small Wall}

While I was at Haven Conference I met Jenna from SAS Interiors. She is one talented blogger as well as interior designer/decorator. Jenna was able to come to the conference with the help of some fantastic sponsors. One sponsor that she was promoting was Small Wall. If you haven't used these before, then you will need some after I get done with this post! She was nice enough to give me a sample to try out!

How many times have you picked the wrong color for your room? Ummm.. I am right there with ya! These 12"x12" adhesive backed sample boards will really help with your color decisions. They are the perfect size where you can really sample the color and they have a sticky back that won't ruin your walls.

Here are the two samples that I am trying out for our Master Bath Vanity. You can see how I hung them right on the wall and the wood vanity. I could use these many more times without the adhesive wearing down.

Jenna told me you can paint over these samples and use them many times without having to get new ones.

This color is more true to the eye in the previous two pictures.

Aren't they great!? Now you don't have to have millions of paint samples on your walls. (You can thank me later...and your welcome!)

What color are you leaning toward for my vanity? Remember my inspiration picture HERE?

Any painting going on at your house?

Master Bathroom Before & Design Plan

Hope all you lovelies had a great weekend! My sweet niece turned one year old this past week and we had a wonderful little party for her. We also got to accomplish some small organizing projects around this joint!

Some of you may remember my New Years Resolutions that I made for our home in January. I was looking back on those Goals and realized I need to kick myself into high gear if I am going to finish all of them in 2013. I have gotten a lot done in the Hubs Office. I started the organization of our Master Closet with these hooks and pinspiration board and our Master bathroom everyday supplies were organized here. However, I realized that I haven't even touched updating the Master bathroom!

So..I am thinking that if I say all of my design plans on here in front of all of you, that I will start getting motivated to tackle the Master Bath! {A girl can wish you know!}

Let's talk about a Design Plan People...
Just to let you know, we don't want to spend a fortune in here because we are only planning on staying in our home for about 3 more years. We want to update it and make it a space we enjoy to be in, but don't want to spend money on granite counter tops, tile floors, etc. We are just looking for a face-lift of sorts.

When you walk straight into the bathroom their is a stand up shower with a glass door. I am not going to change anything there, but just to the left of the shower is this soaking tub. We use this a lot in the fall and winter and I am thinking that a Roman shade mounted high above the blocked window would add a little excitement like the picture below:

To the left of the tub is the toilet area. Wouldn't it be amazing to do some custom shelving above the half wall like this:

I am also thinking some floating shelves above the toilet and white subway tile around the soaking tub like this:

Our double vanity is on the opposite side of the bathroom from the tub and toilet. The faucets and sinks are in great shape, so I want to make sure we keep them and save a little money.

However, I am thinking that I want to change up the vanity with some paint and new hardware. The vanity itself has taken a little bit of a beating and the laminate wood is starting to chip.

I am picturing a darker vanity like below with either Lucite or glass hardware:

The floors in the bathroom are just vinyl, but they are in great shape and this would be one area we could save money on. We are probably going to keep our home and rent it out when we move in a few years, so if we keep the vinyl we would have a lot less maintenance in the end.

Last, but certainly not least is the lighting and the mirror. I am a little stuck on what to do with these fantastic bell lights (do you hear the sarcasm?) I am still trying to find a better option for this space. These are definitely cheap builder grade lights. I am thinking we could salvage these and use them in one of our flip homes!

Also, I really want to frame out that mirror and create a more custom look. I am visioning a black glossy frame that would really pop!

Colors...well I want to paint the walls white and the vanity a dark gray or deep blue/black.

I am tossing a few paint choices around:

Slate by Restoration Hardware
Urban Bronze by Sherwin Williams
Iron Ore by Sherwin  Williams
Dovetail by Sherwin Williams

So what do you all think? Any advice or ideas you might have for me to consider in my bathroom?

Here's to a fantastic new week!

{DIY} Paint Chip Calendar

It has been a while! I have missed all of you. Sorry for such a long absence. When life calls...you must answer. We have been very blessed to have a successful real estate business this year. We are also almost finished with our latest flip home. Can't wait to share the pictures. So all in all...it has been a whirlwind the past few weeks.
I also owe all of you a big THANK YOU as I have hit 1,000,000 page views this past week as well as 400 facebook "likes" and 1400 pinterest fans! I truly love this blog and am so thankful to all of you that follow along. Stay tuned for a giveaway coming this evening!

BUT...today I am going to share with all of you a really easy and cheap DIY to get you organized for your summer activities.

A few weeks ago I bought a large frame (20x30) at walmart for $5.00! It was such a great deal that I knew I had to do something with it. Then I found this pin on pinterest. Even though I have a calendar on my phone and computer, it is always nice to see everything planned out in front of me. It helps me stay sane!

So...first I did a little fixing to the ugly frame.

It went from a blah faux wood grain to white then I bumped it up a notch and added gold trim with a gold leaf pen.

I then wrapped the backing of the frame in linen fabric I had on hand and laid out the paint chips the way I wanted them.

These paint chips also came from Walmart. They are perfect because of the holes at the top for putting the dates into.

I hot glued the paint chips onto the linen fabric and placed the frame back on.

I added the month, dates & activities onto the glass with  vis a vis pens. And....

I am very happy with how it turned out! Think of all the possible colors and ways you could use these particular paint chips. Now I am organized for whatever summer activities lie ahead!

Happy Friday my Friends!

P.S. Make sure you stop back this evening to kick off our great giveaway! Thanks for being such amazing readers! XOXO

Calypso Blue Door Feature & Paint Color Ideas

I was contacted by Jena from Involving color today to let me know that my Calypso Blue door was featured on her website!! I thought I would be sick of the color by now, but I am still absolutely smitten with it!

Involving Color is a great site if you are trying to pick a color for any room in your home. Jena features all different spaces on her blog each day. The colors range from bright to neutral, gray to yellow, pink to green!

You can browse by color, room or brand.

Benjamin Moore Whale Gray & Natural White

If you see a paint chip color that you are thinking about for a space in your home, go and check out Jena's site first to see if she has the color featured. It might give you an idea of how the color really looks in a real space.

Behr Precious Emerald

I know I always have a hard time picking paint colors for my own home. I have used her site many times to see how the paint color may change once it is up on the walls.

Benjamin Moore Peony

How do you decide on a paint color? Do you use a special gadget like Sherwin Williams Color Visualizer?

P.S. Sherwin Williams is having their summer sale right now! May 19-27th.... 30% off!

{DIY} Dipped Baskets

I few weeks ago I saw these Ombre dipped vases at HomeGoods. I thought they were interesting but decided against buying them. Of course I now regret that because they would look so amazing on my mantel this summer! Oh well...that might have to be a future DIY project.

Anyhoo...that got me thinking about my boring brown baskets under the TV console. I have been staring at this area for a while now trying to figure out what needs to change.

It felt like the TV area was one big brown blob! Then I remembered those white dipped vases and that's when the light bulb went on! What if I dipped the baskets just a bit to create a little depth to this space!? Aren't I just genius? HA!

So on I went using what I had around the house....

I painted using a harder bristle brush so the paint would really get into the cracks of the basket.

No painters tape needed! I just used my eye and the different weaves to help me stay pretty straight. I painted about four inches up from the bottom. (This is a fairly large sized basket from World Market!)

Then it was time to test my theory...was the big brown blob gone?

Yep! It sure was! I am loving the extra little pop under the TV. You actually notice these amazing baskets now where as before they just blended in.

This project cost me $0 because I had everything on hand in my garage! Think of the possibilities of this DIY...you could use fun bright colors in a kids room, dip dye some storage containers for the flour and sugar on your counter or even dip your garden pots for the summer!

IN. LOVE.....

What do you think? What could you see dip dyed in your own home?
