Our {Guest Room} Updates

Yep...I am still here and these babies are still kicking inside of me. 35 weeks today! Will be sharing some maternity photos tomorrow along with a couple of peeks of the nursery. We are hoping to meet these two sweet babes in less than 2 weeks. Crazy huh?

We have been in full "Get Stuff Done" mode and I have wanted to add a few new touches to our guest room since we will be having family and friends staying with us for a few weeks after the babes are born. I wanted to create a cozy spot for guests while they are here doing HUGE favors for us. Of course we had a very small budget since every penny has been going toward the babies necessities, but I think it turned out quite nice for very little money.

I kind of wish this was my room to be honest! I love all the natural light that streams in during the day. The coral and navy color scheme against all the neutrals in the room seem so relaxing and whisper "springtime".

The wrought Iron bed was my great grandparents and I can't get myself to paint it. I love the chippy worn look for sure. The duvet and cream shams were found a few years ago at HomeGoods. The rest of the sources are listed below:

*Wall Color- Ethereal Mood (SW 7639)
*Sconces- Lowe's
*Organic Coral Fan Sheets- Target
*Navy Pillows- WillaSkye Etsy
*Coral Lumbar- HomeGoods
*White Organic Blanket- Target
*Wood Shim Sunburst -DIY
*Left Side Table- HomeGoods
*Right Side Table- Pier One Years ago
*Tufted Bench/Ottoman- Target

Can you believe that the swing arm sconces were only $31.98 each? I have been wanting some industrial sconces for quite sometime, but I could never justify paying $100 or more. These sconces only come in bronze, so I did a quick little DIY and sprayed them with a rustoleum paint/primer in one and then did the second and third coats in my favorite Metallic Gold Spray Paint also from Rustoleum to get the exact brass color I was going for.

I am pretty darn excited about this little space for our guests! To see the before pics of this room, click Here. (It's come a long way!)

Get this Look for Less- {Entryway Inspiration}

Hi All! Yes I am still alive. I can't believe it has been almost two weeks since I have posted. Sometimes a break is just the ticket when needing some new inspiration.

I am back this week with some great inspiration starting with this phenomenal entryway:

This entryway has the right mix of modern and vintage with a global flair. I love all the color and texture that keeps your eyes moving around this space. It is definitely an inviting way to welcome guests!

This gorgeous home in Chicago belongs to the lovely Yana Puaca. You must take a look at the whole house tour HERE!

I was so inspired by the entryway above that I put together an inspiration board for all of you. You can find the source to each item below. Wouldn't it be fun to recreate this space in your own home?

Get this look-Entryway

Today I am so excited to be guest posting over at 702 Park Project! I am sharing some ideas for a spring table setting as well as some sources.

Stop on over and say hi to Sarah! She is currently renovating an old four square in Goldsboro, NC! Sarah and her husband have so many fabulous ideas and projects going on. You will want to follow along!

My Recent Finds {Thrifting, HomeGoods & More!}

Wow! Monday already?
We are back from our little mini vacation to the beach. If you have been following me on Instagram you would have seen some major relaxing last week! I am thankful for our guest bloggers that helped me keep this blog running. We will have to continue our "Dream Home" series later this summer.

Have you all been trying to save a little money like I have? We have been trying to be a little thrifty over here and because of that I have been trying to find some deals for our home. I search high and low to find items that I not only love, but will also work with my home decor.

I have to be honest....I am not a big thrift store person. Mostly because I walk in there and just see junk. I have never scored an amazing deal like many of you. Maybe I am going to the wrong stores! That being said...I walked into our local thrift/antique store a couple of weeks ago and found a few items that I could call my own!

How adorable is this brass swan? I am not sure where I am going to put her, but I think she would fit perfectly in a nursery someday or even on the shelves in my home office.

Someone seriously worked hard when making this wooden Jack. Wouldn't this be adorable painted a bright color!? I have an idea in mind.

The Hub's and I also decided to try out an estate sale in hopes of scoring an antique dresser. By the time we got our act together all of the big furniture was already sold. BUT...I did find these vintage children's books.
The looking Glass & Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

You all know that I have been trying to work on the Hub's office. Well it is almost complete with just a few more touches like: Window treatments, a giant white board and a cow hide rug.

I did find this natural Jute pouf from HomeGoods for his office. I love how it breaks up the dark furniture and adds some texture to the space. And with the $30 price tag...not too shabby!

Speaking of HomeGoods...isn't HomeGoods seriously amazing!!? I found this honeycomb lamp a couple of weeks ago and just couldn't pass it up. It is currently sitting in our guest room, but I might have to move it to a place more visible in our home. We will see....

How about this adorable print from one of my favorite etsy shops! I love this song by Stevie Wonder and I thought it would be perfect on my night stand. What do you think?

Okay...Last but certainly not least is this Nate Berkus Tortoise Shell. I have had this little guy for a long time and my friend Amy from BabyMamaJuice finally inspired me to get it up on my wall!

I love how it adds a little modern in my traditional dining room.

So what have you "Found" lately? Any good deals I need to know about?

Have a Marvelous Monday All!!

Another one bites the dust...

Are you singing along? hehe

I have had a bad cold for a couple of days and haven't had much energy to do much around here. However, that didn't stop me from tackling this guy...

Remember my drawer and drop spot organization a couple of weeks ago? Well the drawer above has also looked like this for about...umm...5 years! I am finally getting around to organizing all of those spots that you just overlook. I mean, I see this drawer everyday but just don't make the time for it.

I bought some really inexpensive drawer organizers at HomeGoods for like less than $10 altogether!!
And presto...

I am feeling much better about my kitchen gadgets and utensils.  Now I don't have to dig around wondering if I am going to get cut by some blade!

So amazing...when you take just 20 minutes to organize a drawer how your whole attitude changes? Are you with me?

Hope everyone is staying healthy. I am sure it is the crazy warm-cold, cold-warm weather that is getting to this house hold. Spring is just around the corner! Can't wait!!

P.S. Did you see my pics on Instagram this past weekend?? (@eatsleepdecor) We got our first Snow in NC! Yipee!

Storage Finds {Target & HomeGoods}

I had a little break between appointments yesterday and decided to stop off at a couple of stores to see what was new and fresh! (and what I was missing out on) I really haven't been shopping since Christmas, so I was excited to have the time to browse.

The first store I hit was Target....you can never go wrong (and can never leave without spending something)! I was touring the store for some good organization and storage solutions. Even though I absolutely LOVE The Container Store, I am really trying to keep my budget down in 2013 and find other storage solutions.

Who else always starts in the $1 section at Target!?? You can find some great ideas for a Fab price! I love these little metal buckets. They would be great for kids craft supplies or even an office space. Why not use the chalk label bucket to organize items in your pantry or linen closet?

My next stop is always the wrapping section. I know...weird right? But look at what I discovered. These wonderful boxes for a great price! These little beauties would be perfect for a master closet or little girls room! The possibilities are endless.

I still love me some chevron...don't care what anyone says. Especially in black and white! You could use these in any room of the house to organize magazines, toys, gloves, hats or school supplies.

These plastic tubs are wonderful! I have two of them that house my niece and nephew's toys. I have also used them for ice and drinks for summer parties at a nearby park.

sorry pic is blurry

I saw these canvas bins and baskets a couple of weeks ago. They are fantastic for linen closets or laundry spaces like mine

I also used these plastic weave baskets in my laundry closet makeover last year. I had many compliments on these and where to find them....well they are back and so useful!

I then headed to the office supplies. I thought these little canvas drawers would be great in the Hub's office. They could help him organize all of his supplies and/or cords to electronics.

Oh Boy...my favorite find of the day. Did you know that Nate Berkus now has his own office line? Well...if it ain't Martha...Nate is the next best thing! I think they just came out with it this week because the shelves were stocked and I can't find any of these items online. I do love those gold and white striped cork and white boards. Aren't they fabulous? I can feel a DIY coming on.

My next stop was HomeGoods. Doesn't that place just make you Happy!? And how about these great cabinets in bright colors. For only $129!! They would be great in an office or entryway. They would give a little punch to a boring space.

Now...this leather ottoman is a great find. If my brother wasn't already building me a coffee table, I would have jumped on this. It has an ample amount of storage space for whatever! I know it is hard to see in the picture, but there is also a removable tray where you could store remotes, DVDs or Candy! It was a great soft linen color. Not bright white like the picture shows. Someone please go and buy it!!

Lots of Colors! These hangers are the Huggable kind. They are very thin, but durable. You can fit more clothes in your closet because they really save on space. I might have to try using these in my closet makeover. We need all the help we can get!

So what caught your eye? What are you going to run out and buy right now to help you with your 2013 organizing goals?

Happy Organizing!

{Master Bedroom} Update

A couple of weeks ago I received an email asking if I had posted any pictures of my master bedroom progress. Some of you who are veterans to my blog remember the mood board that I created as inspiration for my master bedroom makeover.

I have really made some great progress in our master bedroom over the past few months. I still need a rug for under the bed area and would love to add some small X-benches at the end of the bed, but for now I am pretty happy with it.

Here is the BEFORE in case you missed it:

AFTER:

The space is much more calming with this color palette. I actually walk into my room and get that "Ahhh" feeling. As you can see I like to mix woods, textures and colors. Items in a room don't have to feel so matchy matchy. A space should feel unique to you and feel collected, like you have been all over the world just to collect pieces for your room.

What's Up Friday!

Yahoo! It is Fri-Tay! My favorite day of the week! (wink, wink)

I told you I have some crazy things going on lately! My brother has been helping flip a house with an investor and he has asked me to help him pick out lighting, tile, paint, etc. It has been a blast, but a lot of work!

Last week the tile and granite went in! (These pics are taken on the floor of Home Depot, so no worries!)

Today, I have a lot of pillow making to do....

Don't you love these colors and patterns?

This bird pillow was my inspiration for the color palette. I found this beauty at HomeGoods! It has a chartreuse binding that I love!

These two patterns are actually napkins from West Elm. These will be made into pillows today too!

I found this fabric at JoAnn's yesterday, and I think it ties all the colors and patterns together!

This fabric is leftover from my chair makeover. I think this pillow will add a little texture to the pile.

I am making all these pillow for the bonus room of the home my brother is finishing up! The home is vacant and I also get to help stage a few rooms! I am pumped! I will be staging the kitchen, bathrooms, bonus nook, entryway and fireplace. I promise to show you some before and after pics next week!

And...I haven't told you that I am also in Real Estate. So...we will be putting the flip house on the market this weekend too! It has really been a great home to flip. Mostly cosmetic fix-ups! I will hopefully be able to show you some before and afters of what my brother and I have been up to!

Okay...and one last thing this weekend!

You guessed it....Baby Showers!!

I have two baby showers for some special friends. I am in charge of decorations for the one shower. I am growing some wheat grass in baby food jars for the tables.

Let's Hope they grow by Sunday! YIKES

And I am also making some baby buntings....

Okay, I am officially overwhelmed after writing this post! I gotta run and get all those things done!
What do you have going on? Are you as crazy as me!?

Have a wonderful weekend!
