Tuesday Treats #20 {My picks from the week}

Another Tuesday is upon us and I can't help but share my wonderful finds from this past week with all of you. So many fabulous new ideas and DIY projects on the web. It is amazing that I get anything done around here.

Enjoy this week's Tuesday Treats....

1. OPI Joins Clark + Kensington
OPI nail colors are now available exclusively in Clark + Kensington paint. I have a couple of favorite nail colors that I would love to make into fun colors for the walls. You can see more options at your local Ace Hardware.

2. Hutch Made into Bar
I love this DIY by my friend Kim at O is for Organize! What a transformation. I would have just looked past this hutch's beauty, but not Kim. Annie Sloan paint, new knobs and fantastic styling is all it took to change this piece. Click on over to see all the details HERE.

3. Paint, fabric & Wall paper samples
Do you ever walk into a store and wish you had a paint sample to match curtains or a fabric sample to match paint? Well I do! I absolutely love this quick and easy idea from My Sweet Savannah. You can see the full tutorial HERE. These little rings would be perfect to carry around or leave in your car for that "just in case" moment.

4. DIY- Easy Abstract Artwork
Emily A. Clark can make anything look amazing...seriously! She needed a little art in the corner of her bedroom and decided to recreate some abstract art inspired by Pottery Barn. How easy can a sharpie and a piece of white paper be!? Love how it turned out.

5. Gray and White country kitchen
There is something about the picture below that I can't get enough of. I am not sure whether it is all the rustic details, the feel of home or just the well designed country kitchen....I just can't get enough. To see more photos of this kitchen, click HERE.

What is your favorite Tuesday Treat from today? Have you found anything fun and exciting around the web that you would like to share with all of us?

Have a wonderful day friends.

Ikea Hack- Two Toned Rast Dresser

Last year I picked up this little dresser at the Ikea in Atlanta. I had plans to paint it and put it between two single beds in one of our guest rooms. When life decisions changed and we decided to make that room into a nursery in preparation for adopting, this plain dresser in the garage for a year.

Once I started organizing my closet, I quickly knew that I needed a bit more storage space for undies, socks, sports bras, etc. I actually totally forgot about this dresser until I was uncovering another item in the garage. I decided to put the little guy together and make him shine.

I painted the drawers Urbane Bronze to match the back of my DIY shoe shelves. I spray painted the outside Rustoleum White Gloss. I found some gold and white chevron paper at Target and lined the drawers using double sided tape to hold the paper in place. AND...those pulls! Love the little nautical look. These gold pulls are from Anthropologie. Where else would you get such fabulousness?!

I am happy with how it turned out. I am ALMOST done with this closet. I have really tried to make the best use of this space and I can't wait to show you how we have made this small master closet work for us. Hope to have the whole closet up on the blog next week.

I am leaving on a Jet plane for my Haven Conference today! If you want to follow along with all the Shenanigans that go on, you can follow me on Instagram.

Have a wonderful day my friends!

Tuesday Treats #18

We meet again my friends! Summer is finally in full swing with many kids already out of school. I just love summertime. Even though I am an adult and have to work throughout the summer, I still get that feeling of freedom. Summer has that lazy, go with the flow, do what you want attitude and I love it!

I am back with another round up of inspiration and ideas from around the web. I hope you like what I found for you all this week. Enjoy!

#1: Bedroom Makeover using HomeGoods Decor
My friend Courtney from A Thoughtful Place created a bedroom retreat for one lucky couple. HomeGoods gave her a challenge of making over a master bedroom for $1,000. You have to hop on over to her blog to see the full reveal. It is gorgeous and I can't believe the beautiful pieces she found at HomeGoods!

#2: Kara Rosenlund Photography
I was so inspired by this photograph this past week. I kept looking at all the details of this space. I am obsessed people! Kara takes such amazing photographs of places, people, animals...you name it! She is now selling some of her prints and you can get this amazing horse print here. Oh this might have to be on my Christmas list!
Do you ever find something that inspires you and you can't help but become a stalker? Not sure what it was about this picture this week, but I was hooked for sure.

#3: Black Bean Quinoa Salad
The Hubs and I are really trying to eat healthy throughout the summer. It can be hard when invited to so many cookouts with hot dogs and hamburgers. So when we are home we try and eat light. I recently fixed this Quinoa salad and it was delicious! We actually ate it as our dinner, but it would also be great as a summer side dish for a cookout or party. You must try!

#4: Fabulous Breakfast Nook with DIY tutorials
I honestly can say that I think Kristen is one of the most talented ladies I know! She has a design background with a DIY brain. Put those two together and you get fabulousness! You may remember her outdoor space that I featured as well as a Fabulous Friday feature of her home.
Again she didn't disappoint with this adorable breakfast nook! You can see a tutorial for her framed wallpaper panels here and tassel pillows here

#5: A Quote
I thought I would end you with this quote that has been on my mind this week. Sometimes we just need to be and let God and life take us where we need to go. So hard to do, but SO TRUE!

{Sweet Summertime} Mantel Decor

If you have been following along for a while you know that I like to change up my mantel decor for the holidays. My Fall Mantel this year was pretty simple with touches of gold, while my Halloween mantel can be quite spooky. My favorite holiday to decorate for is Christmas. This year I also kept my Christmas mantel simple and cozy.

After the New Year I usually get burned out of changing up the mantel and it stays pretty simple with a couple of vases, layered pictures and candles for the rest of the Spring and Summer. This year I had the urge to create a relaxing and "sweet" summer mantel. I was inspired by the song "Summertime" by Kenny Chesney.

I used my Silhouette cutting machine to cut out "Sweet Summertime" onto white vinyl. I brought some books down from my office. They are wrapped in old flight maps from my husband's uncle who is a pilot. I thought turning the books around to show the pages gave it more of a natural feel. The small air plants are from West Elm. (Who knew plants could be so easy to take care of!) The driftwood was found on the beach at my childhood lake home. The little lady is a gift from my mother-in law. She usually sits on my dresser (the bust, not my mother-in law..hehe). The fiddle fig stem is cut off from my indoor plant and the vase is Nate Berkus from Target (old). The little gumballs or sweetgums were sprayed gold at Christmas time and I felt the mantel needed one more element. Love these little cuties.

So that's it my friends! Just a little quick and easy summer mantel pulling items from around my home. Now its time to enjoy all the pleasures of Sweet Summertime!

Confession Time...what is on your mantel right now? Do you change your decor with the seasons or do you leave the same items up all year?

Tuesday Treats #16 {Ideas & Inspiration from around the web}

I am back with another round up of great finds and inspiration from around the web. Sometimes I get carried away and want to share so much goodness! But today I will stick with five great finds.....

#1: A New App: Pippit
So I just downloaded this new app yesterday and I am still getting the hang of it. It is kind of Instagram, Pinterest & a Reader all in one. It is a place where you can following blogs and websites where you can get their up to date posts, but also have their photos and videos all in one place. I think it is a great concept if it takes off. Having everything in one app rather than going back and forth to pinterest, instagram & feedly would be fabulous! I will let you know what I think of it as I use it more and more. If you want to check it out on Itunes go Here. For a great description of exactly how it works and what it does go Here.

#2: Fruit Ice Cubes
It is pretty much summer here in NC with the temps reaching 90 for the next few days. I am thinking about making some of these fabulous ice cubes to drop in my drinks to keep me cool. Don't they look amazing?

#3: DIY Pom Pom Throw
Since summer nights can get a bit cool, why not make a fun throw for the porch!? This tutorial is so easy. I am definitely thinking about making one for the nursery to throw over our glider. It would add a fun pop of color. LOVE! My friend Courtney just added some pom poms to her daughter's drapes. You can see how adorable they are HERE

#4: A Formula for Styling your Coffee Table
I realize that many of you probably have little kids and this idea will just be put in the back of your head for "Someday", but someday will come. I love how Emily gives us a glimpse on how to use everyday items around our home to create a beautiful vignette. I have to admit that I still don't have a coffee table. The top is complete, but my father and I still need to weld the bottom legs. Can't wait till its finished. So I will be saving these ideas for later too!

#5: A Chic Music Room
Last but certainly not least...I couldn't leave you all without a gorgeous picture to inspire your day!
We will inherit a baby grand piano someday. The hubs and I are both musical, but I always wondered how I would style a room around a piano. Well Rachel Lewis did a pretty fantastic job sharing some fabulous inspiration. I love the pops of gold and orange. Such a fun place to sit down and tickle the ivories.

Hope you all are off to a great start of the week! I am talking Collections tomorrow. Yikes! Do any of you collect things? Are you boarder line hoarder?

See you all then!
XOXO

**Even though I have a pin-it button on my photographs, I ask that you pin the above pictures from the original sources. You can find the links under the pictures. Thanks all!**

Tuesday Treats #15 {Inspiration & Ideas from around the web}

Hi All! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I was able to spend mother's day at the beach with my niece and nephew. I usually have a hard time with this day knowing that I am just "waiting" to be a mama. But spending the day with my sister-in law and her kids was just what I needed to remind me of how many blessings I truly have in my life. I am a mom in my heart and God has a sweet baby boy or girl in mind for me and hubby. I can't wait to be able to celebrate being a mom next year!

Sorry about no post yesterday. For some reason I can't get on our new wireless while at the beach. I am calling support this morning so I can share some fun posts with all of you this week. The hubs let me borrow his computer for this post!

There has been so many fabulous projects that I have witnessed this past week and I can't wait to share some great ideas and inspiration from around the web today. Hope you enjoy!

I am sure most of you are getting your gardens ready for spring and summer. You all know that I am in love with these stoneware garden markers from Arrow & Sage, but if you are trying to save a little money I love these quick and easy ideas too:

5. Five Amazing Uses for Coconut Oil
I don't know about you, but I love anything coconut! I drink mostly coconut milk now or at least a combination of coconut and almond milk. Coconut oil is suppose to be great for your body and I love these five uses below written by Lauren Conrad's editors. I have also used coconut oil as an eye makeup remover. Let me tell you how amazing your eyes feel afterwards!

Our Nursery Closet Details & {How To}

Well it's Hump Day my friends! I am so so glad. Ready for the weekend already!

Today I wanted to share some details on how we created a functional closet for the nursery as well as show you my stencil techniques (even though I just made them up myself!).

This closet is very small and before we made changes, had only one wire rack at the top:

Some of you smart ones may notice that this isn't the actual closet because I was such a crazy and didn't take any before pics! But...this office closet of ours is the exact size and layout of the nursery closet. So it serves as a perfect before...don't you think!?

So we tore out the wire rack and my brother got to work (while I was at the beach) surprising me by adding the two shelves for the closet.

He Used:
1- 8ft 3/4"x 12" MDF for the shelving
1- 8ft Closet Rod
2- 8ft 1x2 clear pine for the support molding
2- sets of wood socket holders
**All cut to size**

I patched the holes, set up my painters tape and started edging the whole closet with the same paint as the room. {Shoji White by Sherwin Williams}

Once that was complete I moved on to the stenciling. As you can see in the picture below, I started at the top and worked my way down. I taped the stencil to the wall and used a foam roller to roll on the darker paint (Anonymous by Sherwin Williams). I would let it dry for 5 minutes, then come back over it once more for a second coat. It is a really large stencil, so I only had to pick it up and move it 6 times.

Once all the walls were dry, it was time to paint the shelves. We decided to add the sockets before we painted so I could also paint those white then add the poles later. I didn't want to paint the poles because I new the paint would chip from moving of the hangers over them and I liked the natural wood color.

The sockets were so easy to install. We made sure to measure that they were at the same point on the wood on both sides of the closet then drilled a hole. Thanks to the Hubs for his help of course!

You can see the progression of the closet in the picture below. It was really a pretty simple update and has given us more storage for that sweet tiny room.

Oh and of course a last before and after.

I just love this sweet little space! To see more pictures of the actual reveal click HERE.

GREAT NEWS!!! Come back tomorrow for a stencil giveaway of your choice! I am happy to be partnering with Royal Designs to bring you so many choices of stencils!! We all love a fabulous giveaway..don't we?

See you back here tomorrow!
