HGTV Dream Home 2014

Well hello there Monday! I hope all of you are staying safe and warm wherever you may be. I have heard from a number of friends that the weather seems frightful and cold in some places around the USA today. We are suppose to be in the low 20's in North Carolina tomorrow. That is really cold for here!!

Today we are talking about the HGTV Dream Home 2014! I get so excited every year at this time to see what location they come up with. This year it is in the Lake Tahoe area. Have any of you been there before? I would love to visit and see all the amazing sites. If you are into hiking, skiing, running, biking, etc...this place is for you!

Front of the Home

This year the HGTV team built a magnificent Modern Mountain Home. It has so many amazing rustic features mixed with modern touches. It is definitely one of my favorite homes they have built to date. As you can see from the picture above, they have separated the living area from the sleeping area with a large foyer in between. There are large windows on either side of the home for viewing the perfect scenery! The best part...this home is totally surrounded by nature. Doesn't it seem so relaxing?

The outdoor space is amazing with the balcony off of the family room, outdoor fireplace for entertaining and a full outdoor kitchen as well!

Let's take a look at the inside...shall we?

The grand foyer separates the living/dining area from the rest of the sleeping/playing area. Once again large windows to view all sides of this amazing home!

This amazing kitchen has some wonderful elements of nature including those wood beams, a rustic reclaimed wood back splash near the sink and how about that cascading granite waterfall island!? It can easily fit 5 bar-stools for breakfast or parties. The kitchen is wide open to the dining area as well as the living room creating a huge spacious area for entertaining and/or enjoying the views.

Beautiful dining area with open shelving and take a look at the different pendant lighting hanging above the table. So different...they add such an element of surprise!

The kitchen also flows nicely into the living room area. There are so many rustic and cold materials in this space with the metal/wood beams, windows & stone fireplace. They had to warm this room up somehow and I think they did a fantastic job with the furniture and accessories by Ethan Allen. Loving the cozy rug and that punch of yellow.

On the other side of the grand foyer is the master suite. How fabulous is this space? I would never have to leave. I love the metallic fireplace against the plush velvet seating. They really thought of Every.Single.Detail.

Umm...Hello! This spa like master bath is also filled with amazing textures from the wood-like tile floors to the ceramic stand alone tub to the metal pendant lighting. Imagine looking out the window while soaking in that tub! Are you with me?

The second floor leads to two more bedrooms and a huge family room with more amazing views.

Wouldn't the kids absolutely die for this space!? What you don't see are the four small televisions that each bunk can see from lying down. No one would fight about what they get to watch. Genius!

Relaxing guest room & bathroom. Not sure my guests would ever want to leave!

The family room is another fantastic space to entertain, watch movies or curl up and read a book. Would have never thought a persimmon color on the couch would look as amazing as this!

If you are in the market for a new home, you can win this HGTV Dream Home 2014 by clicking HERE. It also comes with an amazing GMC Denali and $250,000 in cash. I have been entering daily and I am crossing my fingers that we will have a vacation home in Lake Tahoe! (kidding of course) But seriously... if I win...I will invite all of you over for a party! Sound fair?

This is definitely not my typical style of home, but I think I could live with it! How about you? What features stand out to you?

Have a fabulous Monday my sweets!

**P.S. I was not compensated for this post in anyway. I just like sharing fun spaces with all of you!**

Tour of Homes (Day 2)

From your comments and emails I think it is safe to say that you all liked Home #2 yesterday the best, however most of you would have LOVED to see the inside of Home #5! Yep..me too! If you missed Day 1 of the Tour of Homes have a look Here.

Today I am going to share with you my favorite Home Tour. Some of the pictures I took, but some of them didn't do the spaces justice, so I had to pull some from builder's site.

As you can see the outside really isn't anything too special. I am not always a fan of a brick exterior, but it has grown on me over the years. This floor plan can also come with a double decker porch off of the dining room or a single porch that reaches across the whole front of the facade. I think either one of these choices would create a more inviting exterior.

Home #6: 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, 3 car garage, .78 acres & 4,000sqft
Here are the floor plans only they are reversed from what you see in the pictures above. The garage is on the other side in the floor plans below:

First Floor:

Second Floor:

Okay..let's take a look inside...shall we?

This is what you see when you first walk into the home! These floor to ceiling windows curve at the top and overlook a private wooded lot! My favorite thing about this home is the rounded doorways and windows. I also love how they painted the window trim darker than the walls to make the architecture really stand out.

Spacious office to the right of the entryway.

Beautiful Dining room to the left of the entryway. The pictures below shows you a wider angle and you can even see the beautiful winding staircase.

Wonderful open floor plan with kitchen and living room side by side.

To the right of this pictures you can see the butler's pantry down the hall leading into the dining room area.

The kitchen is quite expansive with large eat in area as well as a massive island.

Master bedroom is downstairs in this floor plan. It is amazing with a large sitting area and double sided fireplace. I don't think I would ever leave! That's all you need....right? (btw..not a fan of the color, but I could live with it)

And...we are off to view the upstairs of this home. This next pictures is looking down from upstairs. I just loved the little entryway table and lamp against the iron railings. So regal!

At the top of the stairs sat this little office nook. Would be great for kids to do their homework or it could even become a "mom" station!

The Hub's favorite part was this amazing bonus room that lead out onto a large covered balcony.

You can see from this picture that the balcony is in the back, upper left of this home. I would seriously be sitting out there every day and it even has a swinging bed! eeek!

So do you still think Home #2 from yesterday is your favorite or have I given you a push to love this beauty even more?

I have to admit I am a little sad that the parade of homes is over. It is my jam and I will have to get over it until next year!

Don't forget to come back tomorrow...I have a special giveaway from a NEW Etsy artist!

XOXO

Tour of Homes (Day 1)

Well Hello Monday! Hope you all enjoyed an extra hour of sleep. Most of my friends that have kids don't get as excited about turning their clocks back like I do. It just means their kids get up an hour earlier! Yikes! I know I will get to experience all those joys someday...hehe.

The past few weekends have been the Parade of Homes in the Raleigh area. This tour is open to the public to view mostly newer built homes. Some homes are staged well and really feel quite regal, while others are just so so and give the builders some traffic in their model homes.

Today and tomorrow I am going to share a few homes and what I liked about them. You will see that my camera skills are sub-par, but you will get to see some details of each home that I appreciated.

Home #1: 4 Bedrooms, 3.5 Baths and 3900 sqft
This home had a lot of great space with a first floor master with doors that opened out onto the screened in porch and the porch overlooked the beautiful golf course. Loved the color of the dining room. All the bathrooms were upgraded with fixtures and higher vanities with granite. I was also in love with the bonus room (forgot to take pics) that had an amazing wet bar area.

Home #2: 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms 3,000 sqft
I absolutely loved the look of this cottage style home. It was a perfect size with so many neat cottage details including lots of custom moldings, build ins, 6 panel doors painted dark charcoal and an open floor plan for entertaining.

Home#3: Unfortunately this home was already sold so we didn't get to go inside. But I loved the double decker porch and the bright yellow against the blue sky. So southern looking!

Home #4: 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms 3600sqft
This home was okay for me. I wasn't really wow'd or surprised. The kitchen was fair with upgraded appliances and granite, but not a lot of character. I liked the molding in the entryway and dining area. The corner tub in the master was kind of neat. The best part was the large property that it sits on. It would be great for kids to run and play in this beautiful private neighborhood.

House #5: This home wasn't on tour either, but was in the same neighborhood as my favorite which you will see tomorrow. This beast is something like 8,000 sqft! Wouldn't you just love to take a peek inside? Me too! Maybe I will bring them a basket of muffins to congratulate them on their purchase of this home! hehe OR...Not!

Make sure you come back tomorrow because....well I might have saved the best home for last and it is mucho gorgeous!! (I might move in :)

Have a Marvelous Monday Loves!
