Cha Cha Changes & House updates

Hi All! Sorry for the long absence. We actually took a week off and went to the beach for some family time. It was wonderful to get away from the busyness of life. We are back in full swing this week and I can't wait to share some exciting things coming up.

We finished Flip House #5 and will be sharing some before and afters on Wednesday. It really looks amazing. We are crossing our fingers that it sells fast!

I will also be sharing a fun partnership on Thursday. It has to do with sprucing up a small part of the nursery and I can't wait to show you all!

Some changes around here...

I decided to sell my entryway hall tree and start the hunt for a console table.

The hall tree brought some function, but it wasn't quite me and I decided I needed a bit of a change. It sold very fast and I was left with an empty space to fill. My mom and dad had an extra antique dresser that they weren't using, so I scooped it up. It is a great new little addition to our entryway while I look (and save) for something I want.

I need to find a mirror to go above the dresser and someday console. I have my eyes on a few! If you follow me on Instagram you would know that I found this beautiful Lucite and chrome light from HomeGoods. I am really in love with it. Not sure it will stay in this little location, but I like it here for now. It may float from space to space depending on my mood!

In other news...my brother helped me install double shelves in the nursery closet. As you can see in the pictures below there isn't much storage in that tiny room. I wanted double shelves and rods for clothes and storage for baby to be.

My brother used 3/4"x12" MDF for the shelves and some 1x2 clear pine for the support molding.

I will be installing the socket holders and rods this week. Then it is all about paint & organization!

So those are the changes and updates around here! How have you all been? Thanks for sending emails and pictures updating me on your projects! Keep them coming! I love to see how you are inspired within your own homes.

Thanks for listening to my Monday Rambling Sweets! See you all here tomorrow for a new round of Tuesday Treats!

Two Toned Dresser Inspiration for the Nursery

If you all follow me on Instagram, you know that I was debating on buying a dresser last week. It isn't a new dresser, but an antique six drawer mid-century dresser for our nursery. I measured, went home and measured and then decided it was perfect and at $150 I couldn't resist!

It is in really good shape, but needs a little sanding on the top from minor scratches. I love the look as is, but am thinking I need to brighten this piece up for the nursery. Have you seen pictures of two toned dressers around on pinterest and other blogs? Well I have and the more I see them, the more I like the idea.

What do you all think about painting the dresser two toned? Which inspiration picture was your favorite?

Nursery Update {Lighting for Less}

If you all have been following Eat.Sleep.Decorate. for a while, you know we are starting to work on a sweet nursery for baby to be. (You can read more about our adoption story Here.) We were officially approved and accepted on December 11th. So at this time we are considered a "waiting family" and are patiently awaiting a new bundle of joy in 2014.

Since we are not sure when a baby will be arriving, we are taking our sweet time with the nursery.  I of course am enjoying every second of it. However, it is quite difficult picking items out without knowing the sex of the baby.  A couple of months ago some of my fabulous friends designed some mood boards to help jump start my nursery plans. I loved each one of them and have pulled some ideas that I will definitely be using in the baby's room. (You can see the nursery plans Here, Here, Here and Here)

One item that I had been keeping my eye on was this drum shade from Shades of Lights. I thought it to be playful, yet a classy touch to the nursery. It comes with the choice of antique brass or satin nickel hardware.

I had my heart set on this until I realized is was $259! I know that isn't that much money for lighting and I have splurged on some great lighting options for my home in the past, but I knew I wanted to use my money wisely in this space. I want to be smart and splurge on other items like the glider-rocker and bedding. So when I came across this pendant from Land of Nod, I knew I had made the right decision to wait on the previous choice!

Even though it is a pendant and not a semi-flush mount, I had my dad shorten the wiring and it hung perfectly! It really is a show stopper when you see it in the room.

(You can see a little peek of the roman shade I have been working on!)

The Light is even 10 times more amazing when it is turned on...

I think the little one will love laying underneath looking up...quite a sight!

So even though I had my heart set on the more expensive light, I am glad I saved a few bucks and decided to go with the Land of Nod pendant. (By the way..it is on sale right now!) I am in love!

What do you all think? Would you have splurged on lighting for the nursery or spent your money elsewhere?

Have a wonderful start to the week!

A Look Back at 2013 {Top Posts}

We are now in the final day of 2013. Doesn't seem possible...does it? I sat down with my coffee this morning and thought back on this year. It was full of excitement, trials, adventure, hard work and just plain life. I am ready for 2014 in someways, a fresh start of sorts. But, as I look back on 2013 I wouldn't change any of the memories, trials, adventures because they have yet again helped me grow as a person and have changed me for the better.

Today is one of my favorite days as a blogger. I love looking back at what has been all of your top posts over the past year. Some surprise me, some make me laugh and some give me courage to tackle harder more challenging projects for the next year. Hope you enjoy a look back at 2013 and all the craziness that went on around this little ole blog.....
